Terms of Service
Riskview Technology — Effective date: # e.g. 16 June 2026
1. About the Service
Digital Tax is a web application operated by Riskview Technology (“we”, “us”, “our”), a company registered in England and Wales (company number # e.g. 12345678), with its registered address at # e.g. 1 Example Street, London, EC1A 1BB.
The service enables sole traders and UK property landlords to:
- maintain digital financial records in compliance with HMRC’s Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax requirements;
- import and categorise bank transactions;
- submit quarterly updates and a final declaration to HMRC via their MTD APIs;
- view in-year tax calculations provided by HMRC.
The service is invite-only and is not open to the general public.
2. Eligibility and Account
You must be a UK taxpayer with a valid National Insurance number (NINO) and enrolled in HMRC’s MTD for Income Tax programme, or eligible to enrol.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential. You must notify us immediately at # General contact email if you suspect any unauthorised access to your account.
Each account is personal to one individual. You must not share your account with or transfer it to any other person.
3. HMRC Authorisation
To submit data to HMRC on your behalf, the service requires you to grant it authorisation through HMRC’s Government Gateway (OAuth 2.0). By completing that authorisation:
- you permit us to retrieve your HMRC business details, obligation periods, and tax calculations;
- you permit us to submit quarterly updates and a final declaration to HMRC in your name;
- you accept full responsibility for the accuracy of the financial data you provide to the service before submission.
You may revoke authorisation at any time via your HMRC Government Gateway account. Revoking authorisation will prevent any further submissions but will not delete data already held in the service.
4. Your Obligations
You agree to:
- provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date financial records;
- review transaction categories and submission summaries before confirming any submission to HMRC;
- not use the service to submit false or misleading information to HMRC;
- comply with all applicable UK tax law, including the MTD for Income Tax rules;
- not attempt to circumvent any security measure, access controls, or rate limits within the service;
- not upload files containing malicious code or content designed to disrupt the service.
5. Your Data — Export and Deletion
You own the financial data you enter into the service. We process it solely to provide the service to you.
Export. You may export your data at any time via Settings → Export My Data in the application. The export includes transactions, submissions, obligations, and profile details in machine-readable formats. For any further data access request, contact us at # General contact email.
Deletion. You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Profile → Delete Account. This immediately removes your personal details and HMRC access tokens. Financial records are retained for a minimum of 6 years after the 31 January submission deadline of the relevant tax year, as required by HMRC.
For full details of how we handle your personal data, please see our Privacy Policy.
6. Intellectual Property
All software, design, and content comprising the Digital Tax service is owned by or licensed to Riskview Technology. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the service for your own personal tax record-keeping purposes only.
7. HMRC Branding and Recognition

8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.
Tax calculations displayed within the service are provided by HMRC’s Individual Calculations API and are estimates only. The following disclaimer applies to every in-year calculation:

We are not a tax adviser. Nothing in the service constitutes professional tax or financial advice. You should consult a qualified tax adviser if you are uncertain about your tax position.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Riskview Technology shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including any penalties or interest arising from a submission to HMRC that contains inaccurate data.
Our total aggregate liability to you shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us for the service in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to liability.
9. Availability and Changes
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time. We will give reasonable notice of any material changes to these Terms by email or by a notice within the service.
Continued use of the service after changes come into effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account without notice if we believe you have breached these Terms, if required by law, or if your account has been inactive for more than 24 months.
You may close your account at any time via Settings or by contacting us at # General contact email.
